TechIDManager Guide: Password Notes

TechIDManager has expanded the functionality of its Password Vault and Technician Passwords by adding Notes. This feature allows your team to store helpful, contextual information directly alongside a password—making credentials easier to understand, manage, and use safely.

What Are Password Notes?

Password Notes are multi-line text fields that can be added to any password. Anyone with permission to edit a password can also add or update its note.

Common uses include:

  • Purpose of the account
  • Special login instructions
  • MFA or security requirements
  • Rotation or ownership details
  • Warnings or usage guidelines
Notes are shared consistently across:
  • Password Vault entries
  • Technician Passwords
This ensures everyone sees the same context, no matter where the password is accessed.
How to View a Password Note
1
Open the Password Vault or Technician Passwords.
2
Select the password you want to review.
3
Click the Show Note icon.
4
The note associated with that password will be displayed.
This makes it easy to quickly understand important details without editing the password.

Why Use Password Notes?

Password Notes help teams:
  • Reduce confusion and mistakes
  • Preserve institutional knowledge
  • Improve technician efficiency
  • Add clarity without exposing sensitive details elsewhere
Instead of storing instructions in separate documentation or relying on tribal knowledge, everything lives right where it’s needed.
